“Aurora Estate’s cuisine is rooted in local ingredients, with a strong emphasis on ethical sourcing. The pristine nature of Lapland and its unique flavors play a vital role on the plate. The same philosophy applies to the selection of wines. The Aurora Estate menu showcases the delicacies of the North in a modern way: wild herbs, game meat, and fresh fish. For instance, the pike on the menu is primarily self-caught from Ylläsjärvi.
The menu is short but irresistibly delicious. Everything is handcrafted using the finest seasonal ingredients, with two lovingly curated options: a longer five-course experience or a slightly shorter journey covering a starter, main course, and dessert. The dishes also draw inspiration from childhood flavors. For example, Sirly’s favorite childhood treat was her grandmother’s barley porridge, made from Lapland’s special potatoes, barley, and reindeer fat. This nostalgic flavor has been offered to guests as a side dish for reindeer and has received high praise.
The heart and soul of Aurora Estate’s kitchen is Head Chef and owner Sirly Ylläsjärvi, who is known for her appearances in MasterChef Finland 2011, MasterChef Professionals, and many other TV shows. Sirly pours her heart into every dish, ensuring each plate reflects her passion for cooking and her love for the pure flavors of the North.
